Women Helping Women - 2559 Words

It is always gratifying to see women helping women; it is intensely so when the Consort of our Queen’s representative, the first lady of our land, gathers the helpful women of all nationalities, creeds and societies together, and by uniting them in one Council enables them to work for the furtherance and uplifting, not only for womanhood, but all of humanity; inspiring them all with a greater love of home, a greater love of country, a greater desire to be helpful to others springing from the inspiration of the Fatherhood of God and the Golden Rule which this Council takes as its motto. On the 8th of November 1894 Maria Grant enthusiastically introduced Lady Ishbel Maria Marjoribanks Aberdeen and her new National Canadian Council†¦show more content†¦Even contemporaries of the time acknowledged that fact along with their belief of ethnic and racial superiority. Look at Grant’s comment, and Lady Aberdeen’s affirmation of it, that one of the main purposes of the Council was to ‘unite women of all nationalities, creeds and societies together’. Historians have laid claim to the rest of the Council’s beliefs but this claim has been neatly ignored thus what has been written traditionally does not always convey the truth. Various ethnic groups existed in Victoria during the last half of the nineteenth century and they did not live in a vacuum outside the social and political battles surrounding them. Ethnic women had a say and were involved with the movement of women for social betterment within their cultures as well as with in society in general. It would be absurd to think otherwise and the traditional narrative of the women’s movement remains incomplete without their parts of the story. A more complete narrative includes the stories of the historical ‘other’, the ethnic minorities, particularly Aboriginal, Black, or Asian people, who participated within the women’s movement of Victoria juxtaposed beside White involvement. Any discussion of ethnicity as seen from a late nineteenth century perspective must include a discussion of racism. The catch is knowing what each of the terms means in respect to the topic under discussion. The African American slave influence in the beginnings of American culture and technology and Native Americans of the North American Continent were significant in creating America. By revealing the different ways this achieved, we can see the work and techniques that drove the new country and how this created by the political, as well as ideological ramifications of their labors. With all of these contributions to the new country of the United States, we see that the formation of the world power built on the principles that the early settlers created in their work. White Europeans who controlled the continent held many similar views. These outsiders included the Native Americans and the African Americans. Both inhabits were treated in comparable and in opposing ways by the Europeans in power. The most obvious way that the two groups were treated the same is that they were dealt with in a very ethnocentric way; whites assumed that they were superior to both groups. Both groups were not dealt with in the same way from the inception. Native Americans, who were living in the country long before the whites, were killed, stripped of their land, and cheated as to their future in the new world. The Mayans were an extremely advanced Micronesian civilization. They were located near modern day Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico,l on the Yucatan Peninsula. They were skilled in art and architecture. We will write a custom essay sample on Mayan Civilization with citations! or any similar topic only for you Order Now This is evident by the many pyramids they constructed. 3 This civilization also utilized a great deal of technology. They built magnificent cities with huge stone temples and pyramids. They also developed an advanced system of writing, mathematics and astronomy, which they used to calculate an curate calendar. Another example of how the Mayans were advanced is their agricultural technology. For example, they used the slash and burn method on their crops in order to clear plots of land and fertilize the soil. 2 Mayans used certain building techniques which is a part of what makes their civilization unique as well as successful. Because there were such large supplies of limestone and flint available, plaster and cement was easily produced. This allowed the Mayans to build impressive temples and stepped pyramids. Flat roofs made of cedar beams overlaid with mortar were also common in this area, along with murals often displaying religious figures in vibrant colors. L Certain cities were particularly famous for this typical Amman architecture. One of these cities is Diktat. It was the largest city in the empire, home to over 100,000 people. There were eight pyramids built in the city. 2 This civilization also had its own interesting religious beliefs. The Mayans were polytheistic and worshipped hundreds of gods, each of whom played a different role n the creation of the earth. The religion seems to have been made up of thirteen heavens and nine underworlds ruled by the nine lords of the nights, whose names are not known. Of all of the gods worshipped in this civilization, the sky god was the most important to the Mayans. The god of the sky was also the most frequent to appear in their ancient art, which included sculptures, ceramics, murals and architectural structures. It is evident that many of the structures built by the ancient Mayans were built in honor of the gods. Certain compounds were built with large open areas, from which all the citizens could view religious ceremonies, such as sacrifices that were held on elevated platforms. L The Mayans had an advanced language that they used to communicate with each other. Their alphabet was composed of glyphs rather than letters. 2 Not all inscriptions of this text can be deciphered yet. However, analyzing the written language became easier in the 1950 when a Russian ethnologist named Yuri Valedictorian Morrison proposed that the Amman script was at least partly phonetic. His theory was later proved correct, which was a breakthrough for all those studying this ancient civilization. 4 Another impressive feature of the Mayans was their strategic military. The empire was once thought to be peaceful, and held military forces solely for defensive purposes. Eventually, population growth increased competition with others, resulting in heightened levels of violence. Military action became involved in order to gain political control of people, land and resources. Some scholars have suggested that the capture of sacrificial victims was another driving force behind warfare. Mayans also had a decentralized government which made it more difficult to defeat, in turn protecting the nation from becoming over-ruled. 6 Overall, the Mayans were an extremely successful civilization. They made many significant discoveries in math and science. They also flourished artistically. After experienced a golden age lasting five centuries (300 to 800 AD), the Mayans suddenly and mysteriously abandoned their cities. The cause could have been from disease, natural disaster, deforestation, or even revolt but it is unknown to this day. How to cite Mayan Civilization with citations!, Papers

Why Do Some Children Need To Be Taken Away free essay sample

A person called Dry Roger Morgan published a diary of notes of 23 children, ho are in care, this gave an insight into how children feel being in the care system, their good experiences, their bad experiences and their thoughts and feelings. One 11 year old wrote: 1 Foster care isnt as bad as people say it is because I always thought I would die if came into care but loved it.Some days werent good, but others were the best days of my life This shows that not all experiences of children being in care have been bad, that some of the children that had been taken away from their families still managed to be pappy children who although had bad days, still managed to live normal lives. In children homes, at lot was written about food and cooking together, one 14 year old wrote: 2The sad thing about being in care is when it comes up to Mothers Day or Fathers Day but if you see them then that isnt as bad but even if you dont you can get your foster career something as they are like your mum and dad This also shows that just because I child is in care does not mean that they are unable to see their parents on occasions and the ester cares do all they can to give a sense of normality to the childrens lifes. We will write a custom essay sample on Why Do Some Children Need To Be Taken Away or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Among the noted experiences In secure units were friends leaving and instances of restraint, One 15 year old wrote: 3Lock down! We didnt have enough members of staff to deal with all 1 1 of us so breakfast in bed for us Annie left today shes been in secure for 18 months- gave her a hug and she broke down in tears, Im going to miss her. This showed that some children showed restraint and that they may of even enjoyed playing up the Taft, but even so they still were able to make friends so they didnt feel alone, even though when children leave the units, it may be upsetting for the children.Family related reasons why a child may have to be removed from their families is that they may have a reconstituted family, the child may not get on with the new step parent or step siblings and may act up. For example showing anti-social behavior, like starting fights and playing up in school, it might get so bad that the parents cannot handle it anymore and the child has o be taken to somewhere else to help deal with the challenging behavior.Another Family related reason for a child being taking away would be that the parents could be neglecting that child. This could be of many reasons; if the parents are not financially stable they may not be able to support that child by giving them food, water and clothing. They could also be abusing us absences so they would not have the capacity to look after their children and fight their addictions. They may not also want to be parents, it could be a unplanned pregnancy in a teenager and they may not have much support or e able to handle their child. A child related reason a child may have to be removed is that if they are aged between 1 1-17 years of age and they had committed a serious crime, they are not old enough to go to prison so they would be put into alternative forms until they reach the age of 1 8, this means they would not be a loud to stay at home anymore as they would be deemed a risk to the public.Another child related reason that the child may leave their home is if they had a serious illness or a disability, if it was a single arena for example they may not have the time or money to support a family, they may have other children, work and look after their ill or disabled child, this might mean that the child would be taking away to go somewhere where they would receive the correct treatment and help they need, this does not always mean that the child would never see their parents again.

Health Care Essay Research Paper America has free essay sample

Health Care Essay, Research Paper America has a extremely developed wellness attention system, which is available to all people. Although it can be really complex and frustrating at times it has come a long manner from the wellness attention organisations of yesterday. Previously most wellness attention installations were a topographic point where the ill were housed and cared for until decease. Doctors seldom practiced in infirmaries and merely those who were fortunate could afford proper attention at place or in private clinics. Today the degree of wellness attention has excelled enormously. Soon the end of our wellness attention is to hold a continuum of attention for the patient, one which is integrated on all degrees. Many infirmaries offer a referral service or discharge program to patients who are being discharged. Plans for the patient are discussed with a discharge contriver. The discharge contriver is a individual who is trained in measuring what the patient # 8217 ; s demands for wellness attention will be after discharge from the infirmary. We will write a custom essay sample on Health Care Essay Research Paper America has or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This enables the patient to go on! their attention at a degree which is most appropriate for them. Items reviewed for discharge be aftering include but are non limited to therapies, medicine demands, populating agreements and designation of specific ends. A few of the options that are available for individuals being discharged from an ague attention infirmary can include place wellness attention, assisted life installations, long term attention or hospice Home Health Care Harmonizing to Turning Old in America ( 1996 ) , Home wellness attention is one of the fastest turning sections of the wellness attention industry ( p. 114 ) . Options for place attention can run into both the medical and non-medical demands of a patient. These services are provided to patients and their households in their place or topographic point of abode. Home attention is a method of presenting nursing attention and other therapies as required by the patient # 8217 ; s demands. Numerous options are available for individuals seeking wellness attention at place. With movable engineerings such as lasting medical equipment, O supply and endovenous fluids there are infinite possibilities for intervention within the place scene. As declared in The Continuum of Long Term Care Home wellness plans range from formal organisations supplying skilled nursing attention to comparatively informal webs that arrange housekeeping for friends ( p. 185 ) . This has allowed for place attention to rapidly go an indispensable constituent of the wellness degree Celsius! are bringing system in the United States. In a place wellness attention state of affairs the primary attention giver is normally non the doctor. The doctor is communicated with by phone and with certification from the health professionals. The primary health professionals are normally the nurses and other squad members who are involved straight with the patient # 8217 ; s attention. Although, the original order to get down place attention must be initiated by the doctor if skilled attention is to be obtained. Harmonizing to the 1995 Guide to Health Insurance for Peoples with Medicare Medicare pays the full cost of medically necessary place wellness visits by a Medicare-approved place wellness bureau ( p. 5 ) . This coverage must run into specific standards, but it can be a alleviation to household members to cognize that their loved 1s can be taken attention of at place without worrying about the disbursals. Unfortunately, if the attention to be given within the place is termed non medically necessary the disbursal is non covered. This can include points such as repast and medicine bringing, a per centum of necessary lasting medical equipment, personal attention and housewife services. My employment within a place wellness attention bureau has allowed for reappraisal of services that are non covered by Medicare and/or private insurance. Health attention services that are non included can go rather legion. It is frequently hard for household members to understand why specific services are non covered particularly when they look to be necessary for the attention of the patient. These costs can add up rather rapidly and the impact of the cost can go rather straitening for household members and patients on a limited budget. In these instances a Social Worker is normally provided to assist the patient and household explore other avenues which may enable them to cover their wellness attention costs. Assisted Living Assisted life is an agreement to occupants of a installation that enables them to complete certain day-to-day activities while staying independent. The services provided enable the occupant to achieve maximal map of their activities of day-to-day life. The services are unskilled and non-specialized forces supply the activities essential to the attention of the occupant. These services help help the elderly, blind, disabled, and other functionally limited persons with necessary day-to-day activities which they require aid with or are unable to perform on their ain. An illustration of some of the services which may be available are light housework, repast readying, medicine reminders and personal attention. The personal attention does non include specific wellness oriented services which would necessitate the services of a certified or licensed professional. It is stated good in Aging Although the degree of services provided may change, assisted life communities all portion a common end: vitamin E! nabling people to unrecorded as active and independent a life as possible ( p. 212 ) . The end of an aided life installation is to hold the occupants feel independent within their ain place. Harmonizing to the article Assisted Living # 8217 ; s Future In Michigan Debated Assisted life installations can offer consumers a great chance to acquire personalized attention in a comfy puting ( p. 2 ) . Presently there is some contention environing the different types of assisted life installations. In Michigan installations termed assisted life have no existent legal significance and are non required to be licensed under this name. Harmonizing to the article Assisted Living # 8217 ; s Future In Michigan Debated Unaccredited installations, unsubsidized attention, untrained staff, and unmet promises make some topographic points seem more like un-assisted life ( p. 1 ) . Unfortunately many installations are misdirecting as to what degree of attention they gt ; are supplying. Both the authorities and national organisations are presently turn toing this issue. My ain experience with an aided life installation has been rather good. Once my grandma was a occupant of an assisted living installation. The installation was specifically built for seniors and was that of an flat like construction. The installation provided societal and recreational activities on a continual footing. There was besides transit service available for occupants who wished to utilize it. My grandma exhaustively enjoyed life in an aided life installation where she had the chance to do legion friends, take part in activities and remain independent. Long Term Care Long-term attention patients are categorized by holding a chronic status and/or disease. The long-run attention installation can be either hospital-based or freestanding. It consists of an organized medical staff, which provides uninterrupted nursing services under professional nurse way. The patient # 8217 ; s position is reviewed on a regular footing to find if they meet standards to stay at the installation. The long-run attention installation is regulated by province licensure ordinances, federal ordinances and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations ( JCAHO ) . State licensure is mandatary, Federal ordinance is merely necessary if the installation participates with Medicare and Medicaid, and JCAHO criterions are voluntary. Long term-care is really expensive and it frequently becomes a fiscal calamity for the aged individual and their household. Private insurance is improbable to cover the full cost of attention and Medicare merely wages for a limited sum. The individual normally must extinguish a significant sum of their assets to go eligible for Medicaid which covers long term attention. Harmonizing to Turning Old In America In order for aged individuals to measure up for nursing place attention under Medicaid, they normally must cut down their personal fiscal position to the poorness degree ( p. 119-120 ) . Regretfully, the cost is non the lone distressing factor of a long-run attention installation. A household determination to put my gramps who was enduring from Alzheimer # 8217 ; s disease into a nursing place was a really hard and emotional experience for everyone involved. Regular visits by all household members continually raised concerns about the quality of attention that he was having. Staffing was besides a concern for our household. It seemed there was non adequate staff to run into the demands of the patients within the installation. Although licensing bureaus regulated these facets, this was non soothing to our concerns. Fortunately, we were able to travel my gramps to a different installation. The nursing place was newer and better staffed and all household members felt more comfy about the attention he was having. The experience of puting a loved one into a long term attention installation is one I would prefer to non see once more. It is soothing to cognize that there are good installations availab! lupus erythematosus and health professionals that truly care about the patient # 8217 ; s demands. These facets are really of import for households to understand before doing a concluding determination when they must put a loved one into a installation. Hospice Unfortunately the last resort for some patients may be hospice attention. Hospice is an organized plan that offers deceasing individuals and their households an option to traditional attention for terminal unwellness. As stated in Aging Hospice attention is entirely for deceasing people. It therefore brings expertness to assisting patients and their households face issues specific to decease and deceasing ( p. 180 ) . Hospice enables the patient to receive alleviant medical attention, while run intoing the psychosocial and religious demands of the patient, their household and friends. Hospice plans besides offer mourning services for 13 months ( or beyond if required ) following the patient # 8217 ; s decease for any household members or friends who wish to have the service. The article The Continuum of Long term Care emphasizes The doctrine of hospice is that terminally sick persons should be allowed to keep life during their concluding yearss in as natural and comfy a scene as possible ( p. 198 ) . The quality of life of the terminally ill patients relies to a great extent on the psychosocial accomplishments of their wellness attention squad. The wellness attention squad consists of a doctor, nurse, societal worker, chaplain, place wellness adjutant and voluntaries. The squad develops an single attention program which will supply an appropriate support system for the patient and their household up to and beyond the patient # 8217 ; s decease. Weekly meetings allow the squad to concentrate on the altering demands of the patient and do accommodations to their program. Hospice attention can be received in a assortment of organisational scenes. The most preferable scene is of class within the patient # 8217 ; s ain place, but nursing places, infirmaries and long term attention installations are a few who can besides supply hospice attention. Hospice attention is a covered benefit under Medicare and most private insurance companies. The regulation bureaus that set the criterions for hospices are Medicare, the National Hospice Organization, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations ( JCAHO ) and province hospice bureaus. I hold found that the medical record content in a hospice plan contains an extended sum of placing information in respects to the patient and their primary health professional ( s ) . All facets of patient attention are good documented and assure well-coordinated, uninterrupted attention. The medical record acts as a communicating tool between the different squad members and is used on a uninterrupted footing throughout the patient # 8217 ; s attention. Conclusion Although there are many options other than those listed for wellness attention after discharge from a infirmary, The most of import facet for a individual is to be good informed and knowing about the assortment of options available. It can be really confusing, particularly to an aged individual when talk of fundss, ordinances and covered and non-covered points are discussed. It is our duty as future wellness attention decision makers to supply equal information to the individual who is choosing for options to wellness attention. Ethereal

Ethereal Ethereal Ethereal By Maeve Maddox A letter to the editor written by an environmentalist contains this use of the adjective ethereal: Contaminated air and water and ethereal space apparently are of no concern [to capitalists]. Here ethereal seems to refer to the physical area above the earth, what I might call â€Å"the atmosphere.† Referring to â€Å"ethereal space† in this context is not, strictly speaking, incorrect. The â€Å"ethereal realm† is the area above the clouds, but the adjective is closely associated with the supernatural. In general usage, it usually refers to heaven or to creatures or things that are otherworldly: Several belief systems include ethereal beings such as ghosts,  mythological  entities,  nature spirits,  angels,  thought-forms, [and] jinns. Note: Chemists use ethereal with the meaning, â€Å"characteristic of, or resembling diethyl ether.† In general usage, however, ethereal is rarely used in a literal sense to describe things in the physical universe. Fashion Blogging Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Fashion Blogging - Essay Example This research will begin with the statement that in this highly competitive globalized world fashion has become an integral part of our lives. Fashion is no more a personal choice for one’s own happiness but knowledge of fashion to some extent has become a requirement in workplaces, universities, social gatherings etc. This increased following and interest in fashion has led to newer ways of searching latest knowledge about ever changing fashion. This has led to the emergence of the phenomenon of fashion blogging. A vague and somewhat loose definition of blogging is the practice of posting information on the website. It is a medium where a strong view point, a differing view or just an attempt to â€Å"be yourself† is employed to engage the audience. Personal blogs are the most common where personal affairs of a person are discussed that are of interest to their friends. However the popular type of blog is the topical blog. In topical blogs a topic of interest is discus sed and hence it has wider audience. Fashion blog is a kind of topical blog. Fashion blog provides the platform for the creation of an ideal self with one’s online identity. Fashion blog provides the intersection of this self created ideal self and the off line consumer. There are different types of communities of practice created from â€Å"top down† i.e. by the fashion industry itself and the â€Å"bottom up† i.e. by the women who are interested in fashion.... Another type of fashion blog is like a fashion magazine that gives a glimpse of the season’s offering at the comfort of your home. While some focuses on finding our own style instead of spending a lot of money trying to keep pace with the ever changing fashion. An example of it is Bargain Queen. Another type of blogs only focuses on some of the fashion items such as shoes, hand bags and other fashion accessories. Generally speaking a shopping blog shows realistically priced things affordable by many as well as some aspirational items which are admired by many but affordable by very few (Leung, 2008). The Rise of Fashion Blogs The role and importance of fashion blogging has increased so much that fashion bloggers are now an integral part of the elitist and the most exclusive of fashion functions which were previously reserved for fashion schools and fashion magazines. Fashion blogs has such profound influence over the people that the British fashion blogger Susanna Lau has beco me a minor celebrity of UK fashion with her blog Style Bubble. Her blog attracts more than 10,000 visitors per day. Same is true for the popularity of other fashion blogs such as BryanBoy, Fashiontoast, SomethingNavy, and TheBlondeSalad. The popularity of these fashion blogs has turned them into an effective marketing tool. This increased importance not only enhanced the number of bloggers on the web but also their role. Now the bloggers are not just satisfied with being invited at fashion parties but they have a professional role to play. Some of the bloggers are now becoming a part of the branded network that is conducted by web Media Company. However their role is different from online magazines because they are

Public Realtions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Public Realtions - Essay Example In case of any issues arising, the businesses have to ensure that the specialists are using their expert knowledge and skills of communications to deal with the stakeholders to maintain the healthy relationships. Usually the need for specialists arises when businesses go through controversial issues (Travis, 2013). McDonalds is a multinational fast food restaurant and apparently the world’s largest hamburger sellers. McDonalds operate in more than 119 countries and serve up to 68 million customers every day. A survey of their recipes in 2004 in United States showed that they use trans-fat, artificial sweeteners and petro chemicals in their products. This was a controversial issue since it said to harm the lives of the customers. Trans-fat is used to enhance the taste of their meals and make it addicting for the customer so that he spends more money on McDonald meals. The food containing trans-fat can damage DNA, arteries, bad cholesterol and raises the risk of coronary heart d iseases. This issue was a major reason why McDonalds sales and market image was affected. Many controversies still exist today and campaigns are done to ban products that include trans-fat. Moreover, the United States governments started many campaigns in 2004 and 2005 demanding the fast food restaurants to reduce the use of trans-fats in their products and stop risking the lives of customers. By the 2007, many of the state governments had signed the regulation for the ban of trans-fats and made it a law to cease the products made in trans-fat oil. This issue had major implications on the organization and the society at large (Sriramesh, 2003). Due to the campaigns about trans-fats, many people in the United States had started knowing about the harms that trans-fat is likely to cause to the health. Thus, having revealed that McDonalds uses trans-fats in their products, the customers were furious and the organization delivered a negative image that they had to control before it hit t heir sales and profits. Since trans-fats were used in products which were consumed by the customers, they were the stakeholders largely affected by this issue. Because of this many customers stopped eating McDonalds and shifted to other competitive brands. McDonalds would not only lose their customers to their competitors, but also suffer loss in sales revenue and profits (Kincheloe, 2002). The implications of this issue to the other stakeholders would also be great. Since the market value and business image will be affected, many of the investors would refuse to invest in the business which is likely to go into losses because of this controversial issue. Moreover, the suppliers would also focus on other profitable organizations to supply their goods. The employees are an important part of the business and it is wrong to say that they would not be affected by this issue. The employees will be affected in an indirect way. Since this issue involves the government regulations, the empl oyee’s jobs would be threatened and insecure. Working in an organization undergoing an ethical controversy can also have a bad impact on the career of the employee. Most employees would avoid working in such an organization. It is at this time when the business needs its specialized managers and experts to deal with the stakeholders in order to retain their trust in the business. Usually a large scale business such as McDonalds would

Research paper on Samuel Beckett Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

On Samuel Beckett - Research Paper Example Samuel Beckett was born and raised in a Protestant middle class home and was the son of Bill Beckett, a Quantity Surveyor and May Beckett, a Nurse (Cronin 72). At the age of 14, his parents sent him off to school which was apparently also attended by Oscar Wilde. A few years later, Beckett moved to Paris and without more ado, fell in love with the city. Upon arrival, a mutual friend introduced him to James Joyce who was a writer (Nixon 91). Having been introduced to the world of writing, Beckett wrote his very first essay at the age of 23 which was in defense of Joyce’s magnum piece against the public’s lazy demand for easy understanding (Knowlson 110). However, upon completing a study of Proust, Beckett concluded that routine and habit are the cancer of time and this led to him having some considerations regarding his life. France became the strongest factor that was to influence his spirit and style of his writings. He later gave up his post at Trinity College where h e received his B.A. Degree, and embarked on a nomadic journey across Europe. As he travelled across Europe, Beckett still wrote poems and stories while doing odd jobs to get some form of income. He finally settled down in Paris in the year 1937 after being to Germany, Ireland, England and other parts of Europe. In a rather unfortunate incident, soon after he arrived in Paris, he was stabbed in the street by a man who had asked him for money (Uhlmann 21). While in hospital, Beckett learned that he had developed a perforated lung. Beckett recovered and decided to visit his attacker in prison to question him on the attack. In the course of the World War II, he put up in Paris even subsequent to being conquered by Germans. He briefly joined the underground movement where he fought for the resistance until 1942 where he was strained to flee with his French wife to the uninhabited zone so as to avoid arrest (Connor 53). After Paris was liberated from

Importance of Effective Project Management

Importance of Effective Project Management Project management is applied to various tasks in our lives and work. it provides skills and knowledge that are used to control and manage the introduction of new initiatives or changes. Projects are determined in terms of the time, scope, procurement, quality and cost (Clement and Gido, 2009, p.13). It entails a number of activities that must be done in the specified time, under a fixed budget with the given resources. It is noted that project management is not limited to organizational or institutional initiatives but can be applied to personal and school items. The expectations are that the acquired project must be handled with appropriate project management tools and techniques in order to achieve the project goals. There are important aspects of any project; one of the most important of these is the project manager. The project manager is tasked with the responsibility of making sure that the principles, tools and techniques are applied effectively to make sure that the project succeeds. In this respect, as a student doing a dissertation, I will be the project manager in charge of my project. My responsibility will be to make sure that the project principles are observed in the research proposal and the final report. The project will take the time line between 10th September and the 20th November of this academic year. This time will be used to write the research proposal, collect data, analyze, write reports and make the necessary corrections as suggested by my supervisors. The project will encompass any resources in terms of time and finance as it is available to me. The project will involve several people, the project manager, who will also the researcher, fellow students who will be consult ed, and the supervisor will give expert opinion. Principles of Project Management Significance of the Study The first principles entail the purpose of the project, which is demonstrated through, the significance of the study to the society, the contributions it makes to current knowledge and the outcomes of the reports (Clement and Lewis, 2006, p.17). Therefore, the dissertation proposal and reports must address the significance of the recommendations as they apply to the society, knowledge base and the research questions. This then will entail the identification of appropriate research questions. Research questions to be addressed in this dissertation will address the main and specific objectives. They will ask on how much the topic is relevant to current societal and research environments. The dissertation must address the applicability of the recommendations and the viability of the research method. If the reports are based on sound academic principles the dissertation them must be able to defend the ideas proposed. Relevance of the study At the same time the dissertation must be relevant to current academic standards. This will be proven through the literature review which gives strong background of the research problem that is based on other researches. This section will reveal the strengths and weaknesses of other researches and how the dissertation will address and resole them in the report. At this point relevance will also be proven with a problem statement and explained through the provision of the significance of the problem. The project cannot exist without the identification of a problem or the reasons of having the project. The significance of the problem is sued to explain with relevant academic and theoretical support the reasons for the project. Relevance is used to explain to any donor of the project, support group, and programme the importance of the project. Feasibility of the dissertation The project must also be feasible. This is achieved through the identification and use of locally available resources like time, finance and human resources in the project development. The dissertation will take into consideration the resources in terms of finance; time allocated by the institution, research materials available in the library, online resources and classroom materials. Furthermore, feasibility will be achieved through a listing of the activities that will be carried out during the research stage. At this point the project will utilize any research method that will be deemed fit to collect the necessary data. Some of the research methods that will be used by this report are like data analysis, qualitative analysis, questionnaires and interviews. The feasibility will not be complete without identification of the limitations (Lewsi, 2006, p.14). The possible limitations of the study will entail the difficulties the study discovered in the research methods, the data analy sis report of the findings, the analysis of the budget, time and resources. Accuracy of the Dissertation The dissertation project must be accurate for it to qualify as an academic material. This will be achieved though its ability to be congruent with the theoretical predictions of available data and studies that have been achieved in the past (Lock, 2007, p.23). The reports must also make reference to expert work and must cite each literature review with proper expert references. At the end of the report proper verification of data must be made by referencing the source of the data, techniques used to acquire the data, methods used to quantify and analysis the data. Accountability The dissertation must also be accountable, therefore the project manager, or the research student will make detailed accounts of the actions taken and the decisions made during the research. At the same time this will be achieved through justification of any regress made from the original research design this will then be supported by any acknowledgements of any limitations. Objectives of the dissertation The objectives of the dissertation are only said to be viable if they meet a certain standard. The first is that they must be specific; this means that each objective must have a detailed point of focus. Therefore, in the dissertation specific objectives will be attained if they mention; the topic of the project, the time for meeting a certain plan, the methodologies in the research, the data collecting tools, data analysis and any other detailed account that relates to the project. At the same time they must be measurable, which is achieved through the use of the word have gained, achieved. The objectives will also be assignable to the relevant persons related to the project and must be realistic in attainment. This means that they are within budget, time slot and within the qualifications of the project participants (Kerzner, 2009, p.13). Project Management Tools The project research will take into consideration several project management tools and techniques. These are supposed to make sure the project is successful; therefore the project will be undertaken according to the following project management tools (Haynes, 2002, p.45). Resources The first resource is finance which will entail the amount of money available to the project. This is either from funding from the department or faculty or the amount of money in the pocket. Planning for this will entail a detailed budget that will entail the identification of all the functions, aspects, resources and items for the project that need to be purchased. It will also give the details of any outside help in terms of an analysts, internet access or any material assistance used in the project. It should also consider the finance used by the project owner for transportation, and expenses when conducting research. Time will be accounted for through the creation of a time plan, or a work plan. These will entail the identification and listing of all the steps that will be followed from proposal writing, presentation, defending, data collection, analysis, report writing and presentation. Every step between the two will be listed down and a time frame allocated to each (Hamel, 2007, p.32). The next item in the resources is persons who are important to the project. The first person is the project manager; I will be in charge of the project as it entails my dissertation. I have the responsibility of coming up with the project title, the identification of the problem, objectives and goals. I should also give a rationale for the study and support my ideas with appropriate academic literature with proper expert citation and referencing. I should come up will relevant research methodologies as applied to the field of study and with the help of literature materials I will be able to generate research questions that will guide me as I collect and analyze data. My duty in the whole process will be to write the proposal, defend it, collect and analyze data and write a report of the findings. The other relevant person is my supervisor and any faculty staff who can offer me academic guidelines in the development of the project. This supervisor/s is a member of the faculty staff who is in charge of the course work. They will assist in the guidance and academic advice on the development of the project. They are supposed to go through the reports and give their opinions and recommendations. Furthermore, together with the examination body they will grade the paper accordingly. Their knowledge and skills in academic research will be useful in the dissertation. In this list is any person who will assist in the collection and analysis of the data. Meanwhile my fellow students will be a vital part of the project as they can offer discussion forums to help in the development of the project. Gantt charts This will show all the activities in the project process, it will entail the budgets, the time schedule, the project plans, the reports and presentations of the projects and the time frame for each action. This is inconsideration that the time for the project will run from September to November. This chart will show a simple analysis of the plan, work plan and budget of the whole project. Strategic Management This will offer important themes and focus for the future directions of the project. This technique requires that the project focuses on the objectives, goals, missions and strategies in the implementation. Strategy then will entail the identification of the dissertation objectives; this will be covered in the main and specific objectives. One of the main objectives of the project is to make sure that the selected problem satisfied and solved using appropriate research methods and following expert referencing. The only means by which strategic management is achieved is if the project follows four main activities as proposed by the techniques. One of them is the reviewing and the definition of the organizational missions. For this step the dissertation will them make sure it reviews and defines the missions of the project. Every participant of the project and I included must make sure that the project achieves its goals. Therefore, the proposal stage must clearly define the goals and mission. The second logical step will be the setting of the long term goals and objectives. The identification and creation of the proposal marks the first step in the setting of the short term goals, these will then help in the achievement of the long term goals and objectives. Objectives that are deemed to be long term are those linked to the end product attained at the end of the project period. The third step is the analysis and the formulation of the strategies that will help reach these goals. These are seen in the work plan or time plan, that has clear identified main activities and the time allocated for each. A time plan is a means by which this dissertation will lay down its strategies. However, to make sure that the technical goals are achieved the dissertation will include a methodology that will entail every research method technique and plan that can give the desired results. This will also involve the methods and techniques that will be used in the collection and analysis of the data. It is important that the planning stage remembers to incorporate this in the strategy plan for the dissertations and report plan (Cleland, Lewis, 2006, p.20). This will entail in depth detailing of the persons, methods, tools and resources that will be used to collect, analyse, store and present the data ad reports. In project management, a project team is responsible for the enhancement of stakeholders ability to contribute and augmenting the functioning of the team as a group. Owing to the simplicity and duration of the project, the projects team will consist of ten people in possession of diverse skills. The projects manager is responsible for managing the project at hand. In this case, owing to the experience of the strategic manager in strategy articulation, he will form a fundamental addition of the projects team. The marketing manager will be part of the projects team due to his marketing abilities, which will augment marketing of the party to different stakeholders. The financial manager will be in charge of the projects finances. The productions team leader can act comfortably as the projects team leader as the project needs a team leader in addition to the projects manager (Phillips, 2010, p.41). The project will engage two members of staff for technical expertise on the technological aspects. These staffs will be responsible for ensuring that proper procedures are observed. Moreover, two sales personnel will be involved in the project as part of the efforts of the human resource to ensure adequate staffing. Therefore, the two sales executives will make up part of the projects team due to their ability to find solutions for increasing the sales volumes. Their ability will be valuable in formulating solutions to the risks that may plague the project. The facilities manager will be part of the projects team due to his evaluation ability. The final member of the projects team will be another employee from the projects staff who will work as the projects developer. This selection is based on a selection process checklist conducted from the companys employees profiles, which clearly indicate the expertise of each employee. After the selection of the projects team, a projects chart er will be prepared to allow the stakeholders to understand the specific roles of the projects team. The selection of the projects team augments proper and efficient management of the project. Finally, the last stage will be the implementation of the strategies through the projects. In this phase the dissertation will make use of the plans and goals that were laid down in the planning stage. it will then follow the time plan as it was designed, adhere to the budget of the project and follow every short term goals and plans in order to achieve the main goal. Dissertation Project plan The project will therefore follow the following project management process; Terms of reference: these are the specification of the project. They will entail the description of the purpose, objectives, aims and deliverables. It will also include the statement of the parameters; time, budget, scope, range, authority and territory of the project. The net item is the statement of the people who will be involved and how they will be involved. Finally there must be break points in the process in order to give a review and give progress reports to the faculty and supervisor. The next aspect is the planning of the project. This is the various stages that will be involved in the project development. Project time plan and costs must be developed. The project team must be involved in the planning and development stage. The identification of the project management tools like Gantt chart and the critical flow diagrams. Project strategy planning and implementation Project reports and progress reports. Discussion As it has been realized the success of the project will lie in the manner in which the project manager will manage the entire project. Project management will entail the identification of the tools and techniques that are relevant to the project. In this project the resources like persons, time, and finance are important. It is expected that the project will be feasible and relevant as an academic material. The project must meet academic standards be relevant to current society needs and academic studies. Project management principles have been identified that can help in the management of the project. Principle players in the system have been identified d incorporated into the planning and implementation. Project management marries well with risk management. Therefore, risk management is part of strategic management and a strategic manager is the best-qualified personnel to deal with risk management. Management of finances and resource is very fundamental for the successful completion of the project. This is because the allocation of the resources and finances is based on the stipulations of the budget and for a project to be completed successfully; it has to run as per its budget. The finance manager is qualified for financial management as his financial role in the company is based on financial qualifications, which can be utilized successfully in managing the projects finances. Owing to his marketing skills, the marketing manager is qualified for marketing the party to the other stakeholders, as he possesses the best skills that can convince the stakeholders on the importance of attending the party (Roman, 2009, p.74). The facilities manager is always in charge of managing the diff erent aspects of the companys facilities. While developing the stages to be followed in project management, it is important to ensure that imperative aspects such as risk management, human resource capital and strategic management is strictly incorporated into the initial stages prior to the actual project activities. These stages are usually depicted in the Gannt Chart. Most important of all is perhaps the timeline allocated for the project. All projects run on a specific timeline, which is determined, by the urgency and number of activities that need to be done to perform a particular activity. Moreover, communication is an integral part of the project (Meredith Mantel, 2010, p.29). It encompasses the timely production, compilation, broadcasting, storage and clearance of project information. This requires the utilization of a strong communication network. The person in charge of the communication network has to be in possession of the appropriate technological knowledge of different communication lines. For this reason, t he staff member allocated to deal with communications is qualified for due to his vast experience while working as a sound engineer. The team leader is the most appropriate person to carry out project evaluation based on his role of working successfully with teams. His team leadership skills enable him to work comfortably with each team leader hence, acquiring at a faster rate, the feedback required for the evaluation of the project. Documentation of the project required a person who is qualified in document preparation, the staff member in charge of the preparations for the production documents is highly qualified for the projects documentation. Owing to the fact that strategic management includes risk management, the strategic manager is highly qualified for risk management as it encompasses the scope of his role. Having been involved in a workshops dealing with risk management, I am qualified for joint risk management with the strategic manager. In addition, to the contributions of the strategic manager, the contributions of the whole project team are fundamental for the development of a contingency plan in risk management. The final role of a project manager encompasses procurement management in which the resources required for the project are procured and secured from the suppliers. I have acted as the company procurement officer before the current procurement officer took up this position; therefore, I have the skills required for procurement management. The different leadership and management skills I posses will enable me to act accordingly in my position as a projects manager. Quality management is also an important aspect of project management that should not be overlooked. The quality of a project is fundamental in measuring the projects success. Quality parameters have to be met by the project or exceeded in terms of exceptional projects. The quality parameters set for the project at hand is such that the quality of the party equalizes with the quality provided by four-star hotels. The human resource must be of extremely high quality to ensure that they deliver a high standard of service delivery, hence bolster the success of the project (Kerzner, 2009, p.33). For this reason, the company should provide human capital whose quality amounts to the value it attaches to its employees. I am highly qualified for this role because I have managed to produce previous projects whose quality exceeded that stipulated by the set quality parameters. Conclusion The project will entail a dissertation that will be developed following the rules of project management. It has taken into consideration the tools and techniques that are used in project management. The identification of goals, objectives and the strategic management process has been analyzed. Furthermore, it has taken into consideration the principles of project management; purpose, relevance, feasibility, accuracy and accountability. Budgeting and work plans have been identified as tools that can be used to manage the resources of time and finance. Meanwhile tools like Gantt charts and flow diagrams have been utilized to depict the strategic plan of the project.

Male Dominance in Charlotte Perkins Gilmans The Yellow Wallpaper

Male Dominance in Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper "I want to astonish him," (34) says the narrator, referring to her husband, in Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper, as she writhes behind the patterns of her yellow wallpaper, locked in her room of barred windows, sunken in the lunacy that she cannot evade. This short, ambitious phrase placed squarely on the page beneath stacks of similarly short-winded phrases that string together this diary-style narrative conveys most clearly the narrator's prime audience for her actions: John. He is her husband, her care-taker, the only man in her life, and in spite of the near-reverence that the narrator has for him, it is only in the final pages, when this stunning sentence is uttered, that John's wife endeavors to earn more than John's respect for her. She wants to provoke awe, the sort of "astonishment" that might make him feel as though he were mad, and would, thus, free his wife from beneath his condescending gaze. For the act, or the being-caught-in-the-act, of tearing off the wallpaper, and not the removal of the paper itself, will liberate the narrator most fully. What binds John's wife, what binds the woman reflected back at her behind the wallpaper's troubling patterns, is not so much the physical trappings of the home, but the less visible patriarchal society of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. In The Short Story: the Reality of Artifice, Charles May cites Bonaro Overstreet's description of twentieth century drama, calling it "the drama of what goes on in the mind" (17). Gilman's story inhabits the dynamic mind of a woman willing to disclose to her readers everything she sees and feels. This first-person confessional, littere... .... Gilman's startling ending comes after nearly six pages of intensification, and it is a most dramatic finale, perhaps the heartiest parody of that Gothic romance mentioned early on. When John faints, revealed to the reader by the narrator's question, for isn't that silly of him, the story to clatters to a most rousing close. She has astonished him, into unconsciousness, toppled him like a tower the way she peeled the paper from the wall. And there, upon the ground, John remains, Gilman's weighty, though squeamish, symbol of male dominance around which the narrator, the woman writer, may now creep, though ultimately, one hopes, stand before and walk with. A Streetcar Named Desire: Play Summary Essay

The play itself is linear as events happen one after the other example: Blanche arrives in Belle Reve, then other events follow such as Stanley and her falling out , then she being raped in the event, Stella gives birth to a boy. Finally we then see her being carted off to a mental asylum. The play has stage directions, instead of a narrator. The play is censored, many words are not revealed to the audience as they would be today. The genre is tragedy. The first publication took place in 1947. When the play begins, Blanche is already a fallen woman in society’s eyes. Her family fortune and estate are gone, she lost her young husband to suicide years earlier, and she is a social pariah due to her indiscrete sexual behaviour. She also has a bad drinking problem, which she covers up poorly. Behind her veneer of social snobbery and sexual propriety, Blanche is an insecure, dislocated individual. She is an ageing Southern adolescent lady who lives in a state of perpetual panic about her fading beauty. Her manner is dainty and frail, and she sports a wardrobe of showy but cheap evening clothes. Stanley quickly sees through Blanche’s act and seeks out information about her past. Everyone knows that listening to music whilst feeling down or bad can provide a relief. Guide On Writing Satirical Essays

Guide On Writing Satirical Essays 100 Assorted Topics for Writing an Excellent Satirical Essay Many people can identify satire but lack the means to define what it is, or even create it. A satirical essay is not easy to write, with the challenge sprouting from making a cohesive argument with the use of satire as a literal device. With a review of catalogs associated to devices, most writers utilize satire as a means of critique. For example, a writer will use satire to criticize the stupidity and waywardness of any individual or society by applying humor, exaggeration, irony, or mockery. The intention is to advance human nature by criticizing its irrationalities and shortcomings. Bad satirical essays lack humor or irony within the context, with the description just sounding like a normal essay. A well written satirical essay constitutes an assortment of points raised using intricacies of diverse humor types, as a way of creating an all-rounded argument about a specific person or aspect related to the world. Our day-to-day life is surrounded by satirical essay topics even though they are not as evident or direct. As a writer, you should select an interesting satirical essay topic that will give you the will to define a reliable outline and a concrete, witty essay which altogether argues about the major issues society faces. The following are several themes that satirical essay topics are based on: General Satirical Topics Humor topics for a satirical essay should be associated with subjects that are light in nature, and consist of an aspect of intrinsic amusement within them. Examples of such are topics related to sports, fashion or entertainment, as they are less serious and easy to make fun of. While trying to select a funny topic, focus on any arising issue within sports, entertainment, or fashion and brainstorm of ways you can ridicule the issue. For example, most movies and sequels are produced under a high budget, which most people are already used to and are growing exhausted with the fiction behind them. A satirical essay topic that can be derived from this could read, â€Å"Fiction, the new true story in movie-making.† Or â€Å"Surely, works of fiction shall set you free.† Or â€Å"How to repeat the same story in so many different ways we already know.† Also, as racial and gender elements of life have become a common topic of debate. First, have a brainstorm of issues that majorly relate to the subject matter and find an element that you can create a light moment from it. For example, many viewers find stunt bike racing as a stupid and risky move since fatal injuries always arise and life can be lost in such a sport. A satirical essay topic that is relevant to such a problem could be The ride of death: Ways of risking your life for fun. Or Ride till you die: How risk is the ultimate excitement in Stunt bike racing. Within the field of entertainment, a general issue that can be highlighted is the amount of income amassed. Major Movie actors can accumulate an income of over $20 million in a year. However, how many major developments or community unity efforts have you seen them bring forth, or embark on helping controversial issues affecting a large group of people. Most of them just stick to what they do best and make their money. Their character has entertainment and escapism as part of their routine, with a large check in the bank just for showing them off. Several satirical essay topics can be deduced from this, Moral duty: movie stars deserve a bigger check for their contribution to society.† Or â€Å"Humanity at its best: Movie actors deserve more income for their neighborly attitude towards the greater society.† You have now understood the topic crafting technique. The Function and symbolism of the Inspector Essays

The Function and symbolism of the Inspector Essays The Function and symbolism of the Inspector Essay The Function and symbolism of the Inspector Essay Sheila is perhaps the most sympathetic of the Birlings, though her own part in Evas death is arguably less defensible than Mr Birlings. She is a highly perceptive character who is the first to realise that the Inspector is no ordinary policeman, and that he has an almost supernatural knowledge: Why you fool he knows. Of course he knows. And I hate to think how much he knows that we dont know yet. Similarly, she is the first to realise that the father of Evas baby is none other than Eric, and tries to get her mother to stop insisting that he should be held responsible: (With sudden alarm) Mother stop stop! Sheila feels genuine remorse for what she did, and passionately believes that they should learn from the Inspectors visit so as never to repeat such a crime. And dont lets start dodging and pretending now. Between us we drove that girl to commit suicide. Her reaction to the revelation that Goole was not a real Inspector is totally different to Geralds and her parents: whoever that Inspector was, it was anything but a joke. You knew it then. You began to learn something. And now youve stopped. Youre ready to go on in the same old way. Gerald Croft is, like the Birlings, a member of the upper class. He is described as very much the easy well-bred young man-about-town. He is slightly older than Eric, and seems far more assured, confident and capable of dealing with awkward situations, though at the end he does not show the strength of character which Eric displays by accepting his part in Evas death. Mrs Birling typifies the older generation in that she prefers to remain ignorant of anything which may be upsetting or which might not fit into her artificially well-ordered world; for example, she is staggered and shocked, both by the revelation that Eric drinks heavily. This ignorance makes her seem nai ve, more innocent than her children, but in fact it is all based on her desire to avoid hearing anything which is offensive to her superior sensibility. When she hears of Geralds involvement with Eva she says with the deepest contempt Its disgusting to me. Goole (and Priestley) takes a grim satisfaction in the way she attacks the husband of Evas child; the message here is that by avoiding all knowledge of anything unpleasant, Mrs Birling is abandoning her responsibility to others as a member of society, but also her responsibility as a mother for the welfare of her son. This, Priestley implies, is the logical and just result of such immoral, wilful blindness. When Eric makes his confession, Mrs Birling has to leave the room, unable to bear hearing such dreadful news but soon returns, admitting I had to know whats happening. The Inspector symbolises many things in his role in the play. The Inspectors final speech before he leaves the play is significant. In this speech the inspector says to the Bilrlings that their lives are not separate and that others are all intertwined with our lives, and what we say and do. He makes a point about community we dont live alone and we are members of one body. Priestley is warning us about the effect that we have on others and we do not live alone, (no man is an island). So we have to treat others with dignity and respect. The Inspector also seems to have a spiritual role. The Birlings are confessing their sins to The Inspector; this shows a priest-like quality. The Inspector is acting as a moral guide, he neither forgives nor punishes just make characters face up to the fact that they must judge themselves as only then they will have learned enough to change. The Inspector also teaches and preaches that the more privileges people have, the more responsible they need to be. The end of the play is a hoax but it is not important that he is not a real inspector. The Inspector symbolises an all knowing spiritual figure. There is even a pun on his name Goole as in ghoul. Priestley uses The Inspector as a voice of social conscience and claims that well have to share our guilt. The inspector makes the characters realise what they had done. He enters just after Mr. Birling talks about every man for himself to show to him that what he does in his life has an indirect relationship between on other peoples lives. It does not matter if one is an inspector to be able to teach someone this lesson of life. There is a big dramatic impact at the end of the play. The inspectors exit is sudden and unforeseen. The Inspector leaves just after saying Good Night. This is a short, sudden and dramatically effective sentence. Priestley is saying, of all the Eva Smiths in the world, that their lives are all intertwined with our lives and that they have fallen victim of societys inequality. J. B. Priestley was a left wing author. At the time that the play was being written, Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister of Great Britain. Winston Churchill was a right wing leader, the opposite of what Priestley was, and Priestley has different views to Churchill. However, at the time the play was released in England, in 1946, Clement Atlee was the Prime Minister. Clement Atlee was a labour Prime Minister who was in favour of a welfare state, which are the views articulated by Priestley in An Inspector Calls. An Inspector Calls is not just about Britain in 1912, it is about contemporary Britain in 1946, and it is still relevant today. J. B. Priestley could be using The Inspector as a device to express his own political views and immortalise his moral standings. Priestley uses The Inspector as a messenger. In conclusion, the Inspectors role is straightforward. The Inspector has interrupted the lives of the Birlings to teach them about life, morality and the importance of community. The Inspector symbolises a priest-like figure, a narrator and a moral conscience. The Inspector takes control of the Birlings house hold, which is a very shocking thing to do at the time the play was set. The Inspector preaches a lot of J. B. Priestleys political views of community, unity and socialism

Essay paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Paper - Essay Example The economy; Globalization has affected the economy in both positive and negative ways, some of the advantages are availability of better quality goods in the market, this is because some countries are able to access raw materials at better prices than others and that are of acceptable standards. Quality is also improved by the fact that the sellers need to make sales that translate to profits and the only way to achieve this is to ensure that their goods are of the highest quality. In addition, there is the availability of cheaper goods, for example, Saudi can now import electronics and other stuff from China due to their affordability. Furthermore, globalization has led to diversity, and one can now buy goods that were once not available in their country but are sourced from another one. Saudi Arabia was known mainly for dates, but now people can get access to other food stuffs such as bananas from Mexico, rice from Pakistan and so on. Therefore, due to globalization, Saudi Arabia has now become one of the leading countries when it comes to providing for employment to people from other countries; for instance, the horn of Africa. However, there are disadvantages associated with globalization concerning its impact on the economy; such as stifling of the smaller companies through the competition brought about by globalization, which leads to their collapse while trying to put their foot in their home countries market. There are also cases of social injustices such as child labor as well unfair working conditions have increased. In the education system, standards of education have risen as countries seek to adopt other education systems into the country with the hope of making their citizens more learned and marketable. Often one can find a country having 2 or 3 education systems, so that it can cater to students that are not originally from that country.
